In the early part of the 20th century, appropriately enough it was a child who by some twist of fate mistakenly left his orange soda and water out on the porch overnight with the stirrer still in it. You’ll never guess what happened . . . it froze! Amazing how that happens when it’s cold out. When he found it the next morning he had a life changing epiphany . . . a fruit flavored icicle . . . inspiring.
Flash forward 18 years . . . the kid is now a man. Made his dream of fruity icicles to fruition . . . get it? Fruit . . . ion. HA! The popsicle was a success one year later and he patented the frozen drink on a stick.
Somewhere along the line someone decided to encase luscious ice cream with an orangey crust and the Creamsicle was born.
Flash forward to another mysterious moment in time created by an unknown person . . . August 14th unofficially became National Creamsicle Day. Interestingly enough, in order to celebrate this foody holiday you’re supposed to purchase a pack of Creamsicles. Hmmm . . . I wonder who thought that one up . . . hmmm? I'm feeling a twinge of suspicion. :-)~
Well, we’re not here to eat a Creamsicle, we’re here to drink one. So let’s get to it!
Creamsicle . . . the cocktail
1 ½ Oz Amaretto
1 ½ Oz Orange Juice
Milk or Cream
Pour ingredients into a mixing glass nearly filled with ice. Stir. Strain into a highball glass over ice . . . viola! Creamsicle . . . mmmmm, dreamy.
